AIKEN, SC - KATHLEEN G. ROGERS, 94, widow of Frederick R. Rogers, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at UPAC-Aiken.

A native of Rockfield, KY, who grew up in Marysville, IN, Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Madison Eldon and Mattie Soyars Gilbert.

During World War II she worked at the Army Ammunition plant in Charlestown, IN, and worked for several years as a hairdresser at Stewart's in Louisville, KY. A professional cosmetologist, she owned and operated Highland Beauty Salon in Highland, IN for over 25 years. She also taught at Mary & Johnny's Kiddie Kastle for several years and was a caregiver for several clients.

Active in the community, Mrs. Rogers served as president of the Lake County (IN) Cosmetologists Association, was a Cub Scout den mother, and for many decades was an active member of First Christian Church, Griffith, IN. A devoted wife, she cared for her husband as he battled Huntington's Disease, and helped found the Indiana Chapter of the Huntington's Disease Society of America, serving for several years on the national board of directors of HDSA. After her health declined, she moved to Aiken, SC in 2004 from Northwest Indiana.

Survivors include three sons, Frederick C. (Pam) Rogers, Aiken, SC, Paul E. (Cynthia) Rogers, Munster, IN, and Philip L. (Angela) Rogers, Lincoln, IL; 8 grandchildren, Joshua, Philip, Sarah, Paul, Nicole, Michelle, Rebecca and Moses; 4 great-grandchildren, Megan, Marina, Melanie and Aiden; two sisters, Rebecca Martin, Louisville, KY and Vayola (David) Clapp, Marysville, IN and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN with her son, The Reverend F. Gregory Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Emmanuel Methodist Church Cemetery in Marysville, IN.
