Henry Halcomb

U.S. Veteran

AIKEN – Mr. Henry Halcomb, 92, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at South Aiken Church of God with Pastors Bruce Fox and Kenny Murphy officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry Solomon, Aaron Solomon, Calvin Leach, Ryan Butler, Jamie Hammonds and Jonathan Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be the U.S. Veterans of South Aiken Church of God.

Mr. Halcomb was born in Willa Luce, KY, a son of the late Monroe and Nancy Bell Halcomb. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1990, and was a member of South Aiken Church of God. He was an assembler for Delco Products and General Motors, and a 33rd degree Mason. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

He served in the Army Coastal Artillery during the Pearl Harbor attack. America is what it is through the sacrifice and devotion of patriotic men and women like him.

God, family, and country were his priorities. His humble demeanor and gentle, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vivian Pence Halcomb; daughter, Kay (Ed) Biermann-Brohl, Aiken; sons, Kyle Henry (Shelley) Halcomb, Atlanta, Larry Stephen (Abedia) Halcomb, Madrid, Spain; two grandchildren, Donald (Julie) Biermann, Jr. and Kylie Grace Halcomb.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Spencer, and brothers, James, Charlie, Roy and Monroe Halcomb, Jr.

Memorials may be directed to the South Aiken Church of God Building Fund, 2700 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
