AIKEN, SC - SARA BATES TURNER, 83, widow of Ralph Lee Turner, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Turner, a native of Oconee County, GA, was a one of eleven children of the late Weldon and Eudocia Michael Bates. She grew up in Oconee County, GA, and made Aiken her home since 1956. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Walpole of Aiken, SC and a son, Larry (Ann) Turner, Aiken,SC (Owner of Larry's Plumbing Supply); four grandchildren, Kevin (Alisha) Turner, Jonathan (Kim) McCollum, Jason (Kristen) McCollum and Travis Turner and six great-grandchildren, Blake McCollum, Dylan Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Daniel Turner, Isla McCollum and Macee McCollum; a sister, Jewell Dunagan, North Augusta, SC and a brother, Sam (Mildred) Bates, North Augusta, SC.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2 PM in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Kevin Turner, Travis Turner, Jonathan McCollum, Jason McCollum, Ben Allen Chavis and Dave Golding.

Memorial donations may be directed to Christian Heritage Church, 285 Ascagua Lake Rd., Graniteville, SC 29829.
